A Perfectly Pink Vintage Picnic

A Perfectly Pink Vintage Picnic

Summer is made for pretty polka dots, flirty florals, laidback Sundays, and crisp lemonade shared with friends. Whether you’re hosting a backyard soiree or a picnic-for-one in the park, we’ve got a few lovely ideas for your next summertime celebration. Curated from our own DIRTY30 VINTAGE shop and other online treasure troves, we’ve put together our favorite perfectly pink items to help you create your own little slice of summer heaven.

THE OUTFIT

One of our favorite things about vintage style is the effortless way the clothes have become synonymous with elegance and sophistication. From prints to paisleys, vintage fabric has a unique quality that is both timeless and charming. This sweet and summery Candy Stripe Dress from OlderGhosts is the absolute winner for a hot afternoon on the lawn. Pair her with some soft leather loafers or vintage wedges and you’re a complete set.

THE JEWELRY

Our Triple Strand Beaded Necklace takes your day from casual comfort to vintage vivacious! As Elisabeth Taylor said, “Jewelry has the power to be the one little thing that makes you feel unique.” And in a perfect shade of soft pink, this vintage necklace will make you feel uniquely feminine and fabulous. We can see this paired with some lovely drop earrings, can’t you? Or how about bringing a pop of summer blooms right to your outfit with these statement Basket Weave Earrings? Either way, you’ll be feeling cool, classic, and ready to make the old new again.

THE DRINKS

It wouldn’t be a picnic without a splash of refreshing pink lemonade. Below you’ll find a recipe for our favorite Old Fashioned Strawberry Lemonade, which you can serve up in these divine Pink & Gold Cocktail Glasses from Etsy. Skip the sugary lemonade mixes and go for a cool, not-to-sweet drink made with juicy fresh strawberries. It can even be served frozen as a slushie or mixed with sparkling seltzer to add some fizz!

 INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups water
  • 1½- 2 cups sugar
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 6-8 lemons)
  • 25 large, fresh strawberries
  • 6-7 cold cups of water (more or less to suit your taste)

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat water in a large pot over medium heat.

Stir in sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice.

Bring to a rapid boil and remove from heat.

Add fresh strawberries into food processor.

Add ¼ cup of lemon mixture to the strawberries.

Process on high until pureed.

Strain lemon mixture into a pitcher.

Strain strawberry pulp into the pitcher.

Stir in the cold water. Add more or less to suit your taste.

Refrigerate or freeze until ice cold.

Serve and enjoy!

THE MOOD

The softness of a summer day spent relaxing and enjoying a slow pace is one of the best ways to quiet our modern lives and appreciate the beauty all around us. Set the mood for your perfectly pink picnic with this Vintage Jazz playlist from Spotify. A soft blanket and a good book round out the setting. Don’t forget some fresh cuts of your favorite flowers!
